Digital creative director and entrepreneur
I am obsessed with exploring that mad confluence between advertising and digital.
As a digital-based creative, I’ve led integrated creative teams that craft insightful and innovative solutions for brands such as Volkswagen, Honda, Proton, BMW-MINI, Nippon Paint, L’Oreal, Mondelez/Kraft Oreo, KFC, Mister Potato, Maybank, Prudential, Telekom Malaysia, Maxis-Hotlink, DiGi, MasterCard, Taylor’s University and Eveready.
I’ve help spearhead and shape the digital capabilities at the Malaysia’s BBDO/Proximity (2006), AGENDA-Wunderman (2008), Tribal DDB (2009) and Draft FCB (2012).
Over the years, my obsession with digital & mobile technology has led to work being recognised at international award shows such as Spikes Asia, Adfest Advertising Festival, Webby Awards, Digital Media Awards, as well as local shows EFFIE Effectiveness Awards and Kancil Awards. I have also served as a 4As Malaysia awards jury member for the digital & mobile craft categories.
But wayyyyyy before all the above happened, I spent a lot of my time getting my design hands dirty tinkering with code. This fascination has seen me evolve from experimental-coding DHTML websites (1997) to being an early adopter of Flash based technologies (1999) right to serving as an ambassador for The Web Standards Project (2006-2009) and founding Web Standards Malaysia (2005-2010), through my work with CSS based designs and the advocation of better web usability and accessibility in Malaysia at the time.
Freelancing as a multimedia designer since 1999, I’ve also dabbled and doubled as a motion graphic designer (After Effects), 3D modeller & animator (Lightwave) and video editor.
Other than that, I’m an entrepreneur at heart. Right after high school, I owned and ran an offline retail outlet specialising in skateboarding apparel and equipment. I’ve set up a couple of online businesses ever since.
I’m Malaysian, born 40 years ago. A son, brother, husband and proud father of three awesome little ones. I love riding my HD sporty-chopper and embarking on DIY projects in my spare time. I grew up in Johor Bahru, a city 5 minutes away from Singapore. I’ve also called Cardiff (Wales), Liverpool (England), and Melbourne (RMIT represent! – Australia) home in the past.
Explore, be curious is a blog mainly on digital, creativity and technology. This design has been around since 2006, as immortalised on CSS Beauty. It may also include other interesting things unrelated to creativity. Opinions are my own.
