I am obsessed with that mad confluence between advertising and digital.

I believe in the power of 'what if' to make way for the new and possible in integrated communications and interactive experiences.

I've led creative teams that craft insightful and innovative solutions for brands such as Volkswagen, Honda, Proton, MINI (BMW), Taylor's University, Nippon Paint, Mister Potato, KFC, Maybank2u (MY & SG), Telekom Malaysia (Sports & Entertainment), Hotlink (Maxis) and many more.

In that time, I've been part of the pioneer integrated digital team at Proximity (BBDO), AGENDA (Wunderman), Tribal DDB (Naga DDB), DraftFCB and Digital Arts Network (Creative Juice/TBWA).

As an advertising creative director and interactive art director, my work has earned numerous industry recognition and awards.

As a maker of Web-related things since the late 90s, I was part of the global grassroots movement that future-proofed the Web through my involvement as an ILG member (2006-2008) of The Web Standards Project (WaSP) and founder of Web Standards Malaysia (WSMY) (2005-2008).

What The Lab?

The Makmal is a Creative Innovations Lab based in Kuala Lumpur, MY. We love making digital products and services people love using. Hack (pun intended), it's our obsession.

By blending the lines between the physical and digital worlds, our goal is to create meaningful experiences that are both emotionally relevant and creatively engaging.

The lab is led by its chief maker, Maharis Azman (myself lah). With over 17 years experience as a digital professional, he has successfully helped various blue chip brands and multinational ad agencies navigate the digital age.
